The runaway, homeless and street youth of this community live in a hard world that is full of hurt, struggle, and injustice. They live in cars, under bridges, and on everybody's couches. Every day, they are faced with hunger, living in the elements, and harsh judgments.
In January 2009, Oasis Center opened Tennessee's first Outreach Center dedicated to helping those young people find the safety and support they need to leave the streets. Since then, the center has been visited more that 1.500 times! Because they fully expect these numbers to only increase, Oasis is going to immediately expand their Outreach Center space to install a new kitchen that will make sure every kid has access to hot nutritious meals.
To make this happen, we've decided to take the year off from Divas Nashvegas and use the money that would've gone into throwing a party to instead expand the space and add a kitchen. For just this year, rather than buying a ticker or a table, I hope you'll consider donating the same amount to helping Oasis Center build a new kitchen and provide the other necessary services they know will help these beautiful young people move from crisis mode to future mode.
While I'll miss begin with all of you for that wonderful and powerful night. I believe the decision Oasis has made to focus on the needs of these kids first is absolutely the right call. I hope you will agree, and I hope you will help us pick up the tab to make it happen...for our young people.
